Review of Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule (audiobook)

Happy Monday word nerds! Let’s get back to the grind on this new week and just be awesome. Well and maybe read books obviously! I love me some true crime and I have been dying to read Stranger Beside Me for sooooo long and then realized, duh! Rent it from the library dork! So I went with the audiobook version since it was read by Ann Rule herself!

I think that one of the most fascinating things about this book is getting to see a first-hand account of actually knowing evil but not realizing it. Awful monsters live amongst us and I think it is so easy to ask ourselves “how did we not know?!” after the fact when in reality, they look just like us! Ann Rule did an amazing job of not just telling the story of Ted Bundy but of reminding us that sometimes when an idea is just too awful to believe we want to hide from it.

Ann Rule was a writer working on the biggest story of her life, tracking down a brutal mass-murderer. Little did she know that Ted Bundy, her close friend, was the savage slayer she was hunting.

Overall this book was definitely worth listening to. Ann Rule was very open and honest with her thoughts on this horrific case and presented facts without holding back due to her friendship. If you are a fan of true crime The Stranger Beside Me is worth the read!
